BLESS N°22 Hood Jacket (2004)
A navy BLESS N°22 Hood Jacket from the label’s 2004 “Perpetual Home Motion Machines” collection, constructed from substantial virgin wool melton. The jacket combines the compact proportions of a bomber with a more architectural approach to outerwear, finished with thick rib-knit cuffs and waistband, welt side pockets, and a polished metal stud detail positioned near the lower hem.
The defining feature is its convertible hood and collar construction. An asymmetric buttoning panel extends around the neckline, allowing the substantial hood to fold and shift around the upper body and altering the shape of the collar depending on how it is worn. The dense navy melton gives enough structure to hold these changing forms, while the ribbed finishing draws the volume back toward the wrists and waist. Designed by Desiree Heiss and Ines Kaag, the piece reflects BLESS’s approach to familiar garments as objects that can be manipulated through use.
