Slim Knit Scarf - An Introduction to Knitting & Duplicate Stitch

Join us on November 8th, 15th, and 22nd, from 2pm-5pm for a three part knitting workshop guided by NoMachine and ILuv2Knit. Each session runs 3 hours, offering up to 9 hours of hands on exploration into knitwear construction and textile personalization.

Exploring the relationship between material, technique, and personal expression, this workshop approaches knitting as both a traditional craft and a contemporary form of textile design. Through repetition, texture, and the gradual formation of fabric, participants will engage with the process of transforming a continuous strand of yarn into a wearable object.

Over the first two sessions, participants will be introduced to the foundations of hand knitting, working with natural fiber yarn to construct their own slim knit scarf. These sessions will focus on developing essential knitting techniques and building the scarf's elongated silhouette. For those wishing to further personalize their piece, an optional third session will introduce duplicate stitch, a technique of embroidering over existing knit stitches to incorporate lettering, symbols, and motifs directly into the fabric.

With guided, hands on instruction, each participant will create their own knitted accessory, with the option to explore further embellishment and individual expression through textile. Those joining the third session are encouraged to consider words, imagery, or symbols of personal significance to incorporate into their finished piece.

All yarn and knitting materials are generously provided by @biscotteyarns, including natural fiber yarn, knitting needles, darning needles, and additional tools. A workshop booklet will also be included for participants to reference during and after the sessions.

Coffee, matcha, tea, and pastries will be available throughout the workshop.

No prior knitting experience is required.
