Soie Lait Card Holder

A compact leather card holder by Soie Lait, the multidisciplinary practice of artist Pauline Ebel. Constructed from leather with exposed silk trim, the edges are left visibly frayed, allowing the contrasting textile to extend beyond the leather panels and emphasizing the material construction of the piece. Exposed stitching follows the perimeter, while two horizontal card slots are finished with small punched endpoints and gold stamped Soie Lait branding.

Working across jewelry, leatherwork and bookbinding, Ebel’s practice embraces organic materials and their imperfections as part of the finished object. Here, the contrast between structured leather and irregular silk fringe gives an everyday functional object a deliberately tactile, unfinished quality characteristic of Soie Lait’s material led approach.
